Competencies, personal qualities, components of psychological and pedagogical literacy (knowledge), value-semantic beliefs, psychological and pedagogical skills and experience (procedural component) are identified as conditions and indicators of the development of psychological and pedagogical competence. The ways of improving this new formation in the conditions of self-development of the instructor are proposed. The analysis of the experience of the School of Pedagogical Excellence affiliated to the Volgograd State Medical University and the results of a survey of instructors taking advanced training courses showed a lack of psychological and pedagogical knowledge and experience of medical university instructors in solving interpersonal problems in the educational process.
