Abstract.The article examines the essence and features of the functioning of the institution of family and marriage as the most important cell of society. In the postmodern era, the family implements a universal function for the reproduction of the country's population and the socialization of new generations. The article provides a meaningful description of the modern directions of the state family and youth policy of the Russian Federation, identifies the features of preserving and strengthening traditional values. The analysis of the main documents and acts in the field of state family policy made it possible to identify common and special features in the activities of various social actors that really affect the formation and strengthening of the family, cultural, spiritual and moral values.
