Abstract: the article examines the educational potential of the classical university in the cultural development of students, focuses on the significant role played by educational work with students in the formation of a socially oriented, active, responsible personality. The author analyzes the main directions of education in the conditions of digitalization of society, various aspects of the interaction of students and student councils with the university administration, teachers, youth organizations of the country and the city.
