Abstract: The article highlights some historical moments that influenced the formation of medical language and terminology. It is shown that Greek-Latin terms form a significant part of the modern professional medical thesaurus and emphasizes the necessity of dividing terms into their main components, including prefix, root and suffix to facilitate understanding and translation process. Some peculiarities of the translation of prefixes, suffixes and roots, which should be taken into account in the process of future medical interpreters training, as well as medical professionals, for competent use and correct interpretation of meanings, are considered.
